n
the 41 years since its charter as a Pennsylvania 501(c)3 non-profit
corporation, the Washington Crossing
Foundation has helped hundreds of America's brightest young people succeed
in overcoming the immense financial requirements of undergraduate study at
our nation's colleges and universities.
Through
nationwide distribution of more than $800,000 in scholarship
awards to high school seniors who are planning careers in
public service, the members, volunteers, and Trustees of the
Washington Crossing Foundation demonstrate their steadfast
commitment to honoring America's history by perpetuating its
ideals in those who rise to lead.
With an eye toward the future, our mission continues
to be encouraging and assisting young people to take their places in our
nation's public service
in possession of a rich appreciation for our shared heritage and always
mindful of the insight—famously articulated by author-historian Ann
Hawkes Hutton,
one of the Foundation's founders—"history is yesterday's fact,
which understood today, will shape tomorrow."
